AT&T Gateway: SMTP Users Guide


Sending to AT&T mail

The gateway is accessible from all SMTP hosts. In order for conversion of attachments to happen, the mail must be formatted according to the MSMAIL/SMTP format. MIME encoding of attachments is not currently supported. The format of AT&T addresses is described in Sending to AT&T mail.

NOTE: Your SMTP configuration must know to forward the pseudo-domain attmail.uucp to cdn-mail.telecom.com.au.


Receiving from AT&T mail

The gateway is accessible from any host which is able to send and receive SMTP. Attachments will be delivered to your mailbox in UUENCODEd format, and the whole mail message will be formatted according to the MSMAIL/SMTP format.

Many mail readers can save the UUNECODEd attachments automatically as files, or uudecode can be used to convert the attachment into the original file. In order to receive mail from AT&T via the gateway, use the following address:
